It’s confirmed, Sony Xperia NXT series smartphones will be released in the United States and Brightstar is tasked to distribute Xperia P, Xperia S and Xperia U on American shores, although the release date hasn’t been confirmed yet. In an official press release by Brightstar, assured the people that the company has what it takes to deliver the devices to national and regional operators inside the US and so the much anticipated Xperia NXT series smartphones will be made available in both urban and rural areas as soon as Sony gives the go signal to release them on American soil. Among the services Brightstar promised to Sony Mobile Communications are forward and reverse logistics, programming, warranty support and customized go-to market solutions. These services will ensure both companies can maximize their revenues and customers will get what they have paid for.
This news has been confirmed both by Brighstar through its press release and Sony Mobile Communications through its President in North America, Paul Hamnett. Sony is a Japan-based electronics company but is globally known for producing high-quality devices at reasonable prices. It is currently enjoying a good reputation in the gaming market but soon to regain the lead in the smartphone industry. So basically, Sony Mobile Communications don’t want to make a gamble when it comes to the distribution of its new flagship Xperia devices. That’s why the company chose Brightstar because it already has a proven reputation in distributing goods the best way possible. And with Brightstar’s huge distribution channel, Sony could start counting dollars as soon as the NXT series smartphones are released.
Sony Xperia P and Xperia U have the same 1 GHz dual-core STE U8500 processor. The previous has 1 GB RAM while the only has 512 MB. For the sake of comparison, Xperia P has an advantage over Xperia U as far as specs are concerned. Xperia S, on the other hand, comes with 1.5 GHz dual-core Qualcomm MSM8260 Snapdragon with Adreno 220 GPU. But the three of them will be operating on Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Reports however indicate that there would be an update to ICS shortly after these devices are released.
If we base our assumptions on the mere specs, we can say that Sony Xperia S is the leader of this trio with 12 megapixels camera able to render a photo as wide as 4000 x 3000 pixels. But we really don’t want to dwell so much on which of these phones have an edge over the other two simply because they are suppose to complement each other. People would have to decide which of these equally powerful devices they would get. So, there is no competition to be formed between these devices in the first place. Sony’s purpose of releasing them together is to give more options for the people who are looking for powerful smart phones but with regards to their budget. In other words, these devices can be categorized into small, medium and large and people will have to see which of them fit their lifestyle and usage.
