The next Generation of Tablet is here… at least that’s what Skytex would like us to believe. You see, they have just announced that their Skypad Alpha 2 Android tablet can now be purchased at Amazon for less than $200. That’s $159.99 to be more specific. You should know that the slate was originally sold for $226.99. Considering the tablets’ specs and lowered price, you could be tempted to get one.
Ideally, the SkyPad Alpha 2 can be used as a media player, eBook reader, gaming device, etc. It’s basically packed with decent features and you can even rely on its pre-installed 1Mobile Market with over 200,000 of free Android applications. Appearance wise, the tablet looks pretty clad in its aluminum form factor. It is currently running on Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread but Skytex did promise that it will be upgrading the slate’s firmware to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich sometime within this month (around late February). That means you don’t need to wait for long.
Aside from the aforesaid features, the tablet can also take pride of its 7 inch diagonal color LCD WVGA capacitive five-point Display with 800 x 480 of full screen resolution. If you don’t want those large bulky slates, then you certainly go for this gizmo. But wait, there’s more. The Alpha 2 Android tablet flaunts its 512MB Memory that goes alongside with its 1.2GHz ARM Cortex A8 Processor, MALI 400MP Graphics, 4GB of internal storage, up to 32GB of expandable storage via micro SD card, 0.3 mega pixel front facing camera, 3.5mm headphone jack, mini USB and HDMI 1.4 out. If you want to browse the web or post a status on Facebook, you can access the internet via Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n. We don’t see any support for Bluetooth though.
There may be a lot of cheap tablets in the market but the final decision will still be yours. If you want a Skypad Alpha 2, go ahead. It’s not like you would regret your decision.
