Reliance Communication Ltd (RCOM), India’s second largest CDMA and GSM service provider, and Google Inc. has agreed to a two-year deal that all Google-endorsed android mobile devices from companies such as HTC, Samsung, LG, and Sony Ericsson will be packaged with the company’s 3G mobile connection with 1G of free data. This is a giant leap on the market position of Reliance, being the first to team up with Google, aiming at high-end consumers to increase their subscribers. The company have already done a similar partnerships in the past, when the Apple iPhone was launched in India.
The latest Reliance 3G bundle will be available starting this 15th of April until the 15th of June 2012. Existing prepaid and post paid subscribers can avail of this free data offer which is valid in the 3G circle of the company. In order to make use of the free service, the customer must make a call using the device and will be activated within 72 hours. A confirmation via SMS will also be received after the call. In addition, the Android phones can also be used on other operator’s network if the consumer chooses to switch.
As part of the two-year partnership of Reliance and Google, the new Android BLUE BOT advertisement campaign was launched. The ad featured the Green Android BOT who wishes to change its colour into blue and become a Reliance BLUE BOT. “Be Blue, it’s Simply Better“ is the official motto of the campaign. The agreement will also include the launching of 30-core campaigns for the Google Android Products.
According to expert from the telecommunication industry, Reliance will hit more than 200,000 subscriptions from the new Android phone all over India within the two-year partnership with a high probability of keeping the subscribers after the said promo period.
Reliance will also strengthen the customer care service of their services of their company by hiring experts. Improvements will also be made with the carrier-billing, exclusive apps, as well as update the featured contents of Reliance’s dedicated Android experience zone, which will be available at leading Reliance outlets nationwide.
