AT&T’s Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket SGH-I727 is a very brilliant and powerful phone. It’s a variant of the ever famous Samsung Galaxy S2 but with a bonus connectivity to the carrier’s blazing-fast 4G LTE network.
As you may have already know, the carrier-based models of Samsung Galaxy S2 will most likely be receiving the promised Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich firmware update a little later than the GSM version. So, if you are the type who can’t seem to wait for a few weeks more, better install this leaked official version of Android 4.0.3 ICS which is also known as the IML74K build based UCALC4 Android 4.0.3 ICS. But before anything else, keep in mind that this particular firmware can only be installed on the Galaxy S2 Skyrocket SGH-I727 and not on any other GS2 models.
Pre-Requisites:
- Backup your phone’s important data such as your SMS messages, Phone Contacts, Call Logs, Photos, Videos and Music Tracks.
- Never forget to check your phone’s battery and make sure that its minimum battery level won’t go any lower than 80 percent to prevent any unnecessary power disruptions.
- Enable your phone’s USB Debugging mode by going to Settings > Applications > Development. Click the box next to the USB Debugging option.
Follow Each Steps One By One:
Step 1: The very first thing that you need to do to update your Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket SGH-I727’s firmware is to download the source file for One Click Firmware Update Odin Tool along with the heimdall suite package. Save both files to your computer.
Step 2: After you have successfully downloaded the files to your computer, click on the ‘i727ucalc4-oneclick.exe’ to launch the Odin tool.
Step 3: Turn off your handset then reboot to download mode. You can do this by pressing the Volume Down key while holding the Menu key and Power button.
Step 4: As soon as you boot your phone to download mode, connect your device to your computer using a USB data cable. Wait until your device gets recognized by your computer. You will know this because the ID: COM section in the Odin tool will eventually turn yellow.
Step 5: Click ‘Start’ to begin the update process. Once done, you will see the ‘PASS’ message. This indicates that the firmware has been successfully installed.
Step 6: Next, you will need to remove the USB cable that connects your phone to your computer. Do this once you see the home screen. By then, you can safely turn your device off.
Step 7: Reboot to recovery mode by pressing the Volume Down key while holding the OK and Power buttons. Just repeat this step if ever you will be taken back to the normal mode. You see, this step is a matter of trial and error.
Step 8: In recovery mode, select ‘wipe data / factory reset’ then select ‘wipe cache partition’. After you wipe the cached files on your phone, select the option for ‘reboot system now’ to reboot your phone.
If ever you fail to install the firmware on your AT&T Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket SGH-I727, remove and reinsert your phone’s battery then repeat the whole update process.
