Last month we’ve heard rumors that another device will be released by HTC in Japan but the lack of information made us junk the idea. However, just about two days ago, HTC Japan did leak some key information online by making HTC J page live on its official website for few hours. It surely was a leak as the page was also brought down only to be announced the day after. It could have been just another way to build up the hype and it was proven effective as thousands of blogs already published stories regarding HTC J. The announcement also confirmed all the rumors and speculations about the device and eventually making Japanese Android fans become frantic.
HTC J Specs
Central Processing Unit (CPU) - HTC J for the Japanese market comes with a dual-core Snapdragon S4 Processor clocked at 1.5 GHz frequency. This is the same processor used by HTC for its One S and we know it is as powerful as it seems.
Random Access Memory (RAM) - HTC J will be getting a 1 GB RAM which is an appropriate size for a 1.5 GHz CPU. If you’ve been keen enough, you will notice that dual-core processors clocked starting at 1.2 GHz will be getting 1 GB RAM; below that and the device will get just 512 MB.
Operating System (OS) - HTC J will operate on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS). At least, even HTC Japan is consistent that devices as powerful as this will be getting the ever-wanted ICS OS.
Display & Camera - This device will be getting a qHD OLED display with 960 x 540 pixels resolution stretch on a 4.3-inch screen. It has two cameras, the rear-facing or the primary one gets an 8-megapixel lens while the front-facing or the secondary camera will have 1.3 MP, just enough for video chatting and conferencing.
Other Key Features - While HTC in Europe and the United States are targeting the 4G connectivity, HTC Japan is making the most out of WiMax technology. In short, it will be having Wi-Fi, 3G and WiMax connections. HTC J will also get what One X and One S is getting, the Beats Audio.
HTC J Price & Release Date
As of now, there is no information as to how much this device will be offered in Japan. But based on its specs, it will play close to the price of HTC One S. HTC said that it will be made available for Japanese Android lovers in summer through KDDI, although there is no specific date mentioned. Since HTC One X and HTC One S are made available for the global market, there is a very slim chance that HTC J will be offered outside the Japanese market; HTC Japan did not deny nor confirm if this will be offered outside Japan. KDDI has a promo where the first 500 customers to get this device will also be getting a pair of HTC Solo headphones. For Japanese people who want to feel the power of HTC One S, this device would be an equal replacement because based on its specs, it is One S packed differently.
