Pre-Requisites:
-> Create a backup of your phone’s important data. Make sure that you create a backup for your SMS messages, phone contacts, call logs, photos, music, documents and videos.
-> Check your phone’s battery and make sure that its minimum power level won’t go any lower than 80 percent to avoid any unwanted power interruptions.
-> Enable your phone’s USB Debugging mode by going to Settings > Applications > Development. Check the box next to the USB Debugging option.
-> Disable all Anti-Virus and Security suites on your computer. Do the same on your smartphone (if applicable).
Instructions:
Step 1: Download the latest Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread XXLD1 Firmware Package from this link along with the Odin3 v1.3 source file from this link. Save both files to your computer. Once done, extract both files to a specific folder on your computer. Open and re-check the extracted files.
Step 2: Click and launch the Odin executable file. Leave the Odin Window open then proceed to the next step.
Step 3: Turn off your phone then reboot to download mode. To do this, press the Volume Down key while holding the Center and Power buttons. Release all three buttons as soon as you see a green robot.
Step 4: While in download mode, connect your phone to your computer via USB cable. Go to the Odin window and wait until the ID: COM section in the Odin turns to yellow.
Step 5: Click the PDA tab. Locate and select the file for Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread XXLD1 Firmware. Click START. Wait for the update process to complete. Once done, your phone will automatically reboot.
Step 6: Wait until you see your phone’s home screen. After which, disconnect your phone from your computer. Turn off your device then reboot to recovery mode by pressing the Volume Up key while holding the Center and Power button.
Step 7: In recovery mode, select ‘wipe data / factory reset’ then ‘wipe cache partition’. Select ‘++++ Go Back ++++’ then ‘Reboot System Now’ to reboot your phone to normal mode.
