In our previous report, we did tell you that there’s a possibility for Asus to manufacture the very first Google tablet – the Google Nexus Tablet. We haven’t heard any word of confirmation from both parties but what we did hear is that it will be released as a budget-friendly slate that won’t rip your wallet. But there’s more to be served on your plate. We bet that you can’t even sleep from the thought of getting an Android ICS tablet that will be a by-product of the close partnership of Google and Asustek.
According to recent reports, the Google Nexus tablet will be released for a price that would range somewhere in between $199 to $249. It will hit the shelves in May and it will mostly likely compete against the best-selling Amazon Kindle Fire. As of this very moment, the slate’s features and specs are yet to be told but what we do know is that it will be flaunting its 7 inch display. There’s also a great possibility for the Google Nexus tablet to be the first Android slate that will be pre-loaded with Google Play Store, Google’s newest app that’s intended to replace the Android Market. With Google Play, you will eventually be able to download a wide selection of games, music, videos and eBooks aside from the vast range of Android-based applications. The Google Play with also have a unique integration to Google +, Google’s very own social network.
Last year, it was Samsung who luckily bagged the lead for producing Google’s very first Android ICS smartphone. The handset eventually came out under the moniker of Galaxy Nexus and without any doubt; it’s one of last year’s very impressive smartphones. As for Asus, it showed it prowess in creating a whole line of innovative tablets. The Asus Transformer Prime and the recently-announced Asus Padfone are just a few of its impressive innovations. Thus, we aren’t really surprised about the fact that Google picked Asus for creating its very first official Android ICS tablet. The Google Nexus tablet may not be the first Ice Cream Sandwich slate as the crown was awarded to Ainol’s Novo 7 Paladin but it’s a whole lot better to think that we’d actually be getting an official Nexus tablet. The fact that the said slate will be sporting a 7 inch display with a price that wouldn’t go any higher than $250, we are quite anticipating that it would be well-received by the ever-loyal community of Android users as well as those who are yet to experience what it feels like to own a slate. As for those who are looking for a reliable high-end tablet with impressive features and specifications, you can choose between the new iPad (aka the iPad 3) and the Asus Transformer Prime.
If ever the Google Nexus tablet will indeed be making its most-awaited debut in May, there’s a great possibility for it to go head-to-head with the newest model of the Amazon Kindle Fire. In fact, we’ve heard from the grapevine that the new Amazon slate’s release has already been slated for the second quarter of this year.
