In a bid to have an ace product in the Android Tablet market, Casio recently announces that it is going to release a tablet—called Casio VX running on the latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. It is the pioneering tablet that would come from Casio graced with a 10.1″ touch screen as well as a more rugged and robust case. But it’s very highlight is the fact that it is going to be a waterproof device. But we still have to see about that when this thing is released.
The company first shown this device at the Retail Business Technology Expo, although it didn’t really attracted much of an attention considering the fact that people think it’s just another tablet they see every day.
But it seems to me this device has a lot to offer for tech enthusiast especially for reviewers. So, here are some details you might want to know about it.
Display & Case - Casio VX depicts the real size of an ordinary notebook with its 10.1-inch display with capacitive touchscreen. Casio VX comes with a ruggedized case which is said to be water and dust-proof. That being said, this tablet can survive up to 30 minutes underwater and still performs its normal task.
Cameras - It has a 5 megapixel back-facing camera which is apparently used for capturing pictures and photos, and a 2 megapixel front-facing camera for video chats.
CPU, RAM & Storage - There would be a 16GB internal memory. It’s a shame Casio hasn’t revealed the processing unit it uses for this device as well as the size of its memory. But I have a good reason VX will have a 1.5GHz dual-core CPU and a 2GB RAM if the company is serious enough to compete with other tablet manufacturers as well as Apple.
Release Date & Price - The company Didn’t set a fixed release date for this device yet but it is supposed to launch it by the end of the 2nd quarter this year. A Casio spokesperson said that VX will be a bit higher in price than Apple’s new iPad (3). So, we can assume Casio VX would be better than the latter.
As much as everyone wants to believe that Casio is out to dominate the Android Tablet market, the company still has a lot to prove to their customers. But it seems that we will able to see Casio VX alongside Motorola Xoom and Samsung Galaxy Tabs this year. That, however, will be a good sign that we will be getting the best out from these devices considering the competition is stiff.
