More and more devices seem to be getting versions of CyanogenMod 10 (CM10) that is based on Jelly Bean, and the latest one to do so is the Asus Transformer TF300T. Because this is an unofficial and early release of the mod, it does have several bugs and areas that need to be worked on, but the good news is that apart from the camera and mic, most features seem to be functioning quite well.
Of course this release is not supported by Asus or Google, so install it at your own risk.
Prerequisites
It is important that you are absolutely certain that your Transformer TF300T fulfills all the following prerequisites before you begin installation:
- The Transformer TF300T should be rooted and the bootloader must be unlocked
- A custom Recovery Mode should be installed (this guide will use ClockworkMod)
- All drivers for the TF300T should be installed on your computer
- Any important files and information stored on the tablet should be backed up
- At least 60% of the battery charge should be remaining
If all of these prerequisites are met, you should be ready to proceed to the installation instructions below.
Installation Instructions
By following these instructions step by step, you will be able to install the unofficial CM10 onto your Transformer TF300T:
- Download the Cyanogen Mod 10 Firmware Package
- Download the Google Apps Package
- Transfer both of the ZIP files that you downloaded in Step 1 and Step 2 onto the SD card of your Transformer TF300T
- On your computer, extract the boot.img file from the Cyanogen Mod 10 Firmware Package that you downloaded in Step 1
- Download Fastboot
- On your computer, extract the Fastboot ZIP file that you just downloaded in Step 5 onto your C:\ drive (you should end up with a folder called Fastboot that has four files inside it)
- Copy the boot.img file that you extracted in Step 4 into the Fastboot folder that you just created in Step 6 (it should now contain five files)
- Turn off your Transformer TF300T and boot it into Recovery Mode by holding the Volume Down and Power button simultaneously and then pressing the Volume Up button as soon as text appears on the screen which says ‘Press Vol. Up to enter RCK (5s)’
- Select the option: Wipe data/Factory reset
- Select the option: Install ZIP from SD Card
- Select the option: Choose ZIP from SD Card
- Browse, locate and select the Cyanogen Mod 10 Firmware Package that you transferred in Step 3
- Once the installation completes, repeat Step 10 to Step 12 but this time select the Google Apps Package that you transferred in Step 3 instead
- Go back to the main menu and choose to power off the device
- Enter Fastboot Mode by once again holding the Volume Down and Power button simultaneously but this time when the text appears on the screen saying ‘Press Vol. Up to enter RCK (5s)’ do not do anything so that a new menu appears
- As soon as the new menu appears, press Volume Down to select the USB icon and then Volume Up to boot the device into Fastboot Mode (this must be done in less than 10 seconds)
- On your computer, open up the command prompt
- In the command prompt, type: cd c:\fastboot
- In the command prompt, type: fastboot devices (if the TF300T is detected a string of letters and numbers should appear)
- In the command prompt, type: fastboot -i 0x0B05 flash boot boot.img
- Wait until a message appears indicating that the process is complete
- In the command prompt, type: fastboot -i 0x0B05 reboot
That should complete the installation and reboot your Asus Transformer TF300T with Cyanogen Mod 10 fully installed. If there are any issues, you can attempt to repeat the entire process from the beginning.
