As promised, the most-awaited Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Asus Transformer Prime has already gone live. But what about those who bought the original Asus Eee Pad Transformer TF101 tablet? Will they need to wait for a couple of months more before they can finally be able to upgrade their slates? We do have an answer to that.
At times like these, it pays to post your query on the company’s official Facebook fan page. Who knows? You might get a response from a certain Asus representative. And speaking of which, it was from the fan page of Asus North America that we have learned about the forthcoming Android 4.0 ICS update for the Eee Pad Transformer TF101. In a brief response to a query, Asus did mention that the new firmware for the original Transformer tablet will be out by mid-February. As much as we would like to know more about the said update, the pithy reply failed to mention the specific date. The new firmware will most likely enhance the tablet’s speed along with a new user interface.
Officially released last April 2011, the Asus Eee Pad Transformer TF101 tablet can take pride of its 10.1 inch LED backlit IPS LCD Display with a maximum screen resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. But that’s not all. The slate can also take pride of its 5 mega pixel rear camera with auto focus and geo-tagging, 1.2 mega pixel front facing camera, 1GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 Dual Core Cortex A9 Chipset, ULP GeForce Graphics, Android 3.0 Honeycomb operating system with ASUS WaveShare UI, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, USB 2.0, HTML Browser with Adobe Flash, 16GB to 32GB of built-in storage, up to 32GB of expandable storage via micro SD card and 1GB of RAM.
Do let us know once you get your Transformer TF101 slate running on Android 4.0.
